A 24-hour bookdrop is available outside the Library.
If you wish to use the library for internet access beyond these hours, or for any other computing needs or training, please telephone the library and arrangements can be made.
Free wireless is available 24 hours a day and can be accessed in the area around the library.
River John Public Library is one of seven branches in the Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library system. It has won several national and local awards for community development and engagement. We offer a full range of free services and access to the resources of all Nova Scotia public libraries.
Collection: Books for all ages and interests, reference, large print books, videos, magazines, books on cassette, government documents, local history, and more.
Services: Reader's advisory, reference, inter-library loan, Internet access with free tutoring, instructional tours available upon request. A summer reading program for children, youth, and adults is offered. The library is also part of our regional Newcomer Welcome initiative. If you are new to the area, drop by and we can help you connect to the community! Summer residents are welcome to use the library as well, simply drop by for your free borrower's card.
Technology Services: Public access computers all with high speed internet access, WiFi, IT training, Microsoft Office, scanner, laser printing (colour also), fax sending/receiving, wireless device printing and scanning, 3D printing, laminator, vinyl to DVD, coil binder, and more. New services are being added regularly, please ask!
Room Use: 12 person meeting room, 20 person meeting area with computer lab, and community office. Not for profits may use the rooms for free, for-profits there is a nominal charge (proceeds go to the River John CAP Society). To rent a room, please contact the library. Projection services are available, including laptop.
Facility Rentals
The Office | $15 half day or $25 full day. Free for non-profit organizations and individuals not engaged in business activities. (examples: job interviews, online courses, online tests) |
The Boardroom | $15 half day or $25 full day. Free for non-profit organizations. |
The Technology Area | $50 half day or $100 full day. |
Priority for use of the office is for virtual health purposes or persons with disabilities.
