About CAP in River John
In 1996 several community members, in partnership with the Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library , formed a volunteer Community Access Committee to promote the use of technology in River John and area. Since that time, the CAP Committee is proud of its work in establishing one of Nova Scotia's most successful rural CAP sites.
As well as making technology available to the community, and promoting its use, a number of jobs have been created for computer trainers and researchers.
The success of the River John CAP Site led to a need for further space to house more computers, create employment opportunities and carry out its various programs. This resulted in the opening of a new library in 2001, to house expanded library and CAP facilities.
The River John CAP, with assistance from the Regional Library, has completed a Digital Collections Project, outlining the fascinating shipbuilding heritage of the area, and created a website about the American Lobster.
The River John CAP also maintains this web site for the benefit of the entire community. If you would like to reach us, simply drop by the public library, telephone (902) 351-2599 , or email us at

The CAP committee meets monthly to manage the operation of the CAP Site and to identify new opportunities for using the facility for community development. New committee members are always welcome.
